Even if God exists, why should we worship him?

I'm an agnostic theist, so I believe that God exists, but I don't see why he would desire our worship...I mean isn't that a little pathetic? Why require people to worship you and live in a way that's totally outside of their own built in programming? (which you instilled in them btw) I'm just saying, couldn't he find better things to do than **** with us like that?
