As I recall, Maslow's theory starts with very basic, essential needs like "Security," and goes on to less essential needs like Self-Fulfillment or Self-actualization. Where does Cosmo fit into this scheme? Clearly, reading Cosmo will not make you safer. It might help you earn a living, which is still toward the top of the hierarchy, but my guess is that it will contribute most to the lower (less essential, more optional) side of the list -- self fulfillment.
